Here is where I am in my study of written Spanish this week!
I’ve given up on reading Quixote: too slap-stick for my taste, and finally given in to the book I’ve been wanting to start reading for quite some time: another one by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, the author of one of my favorite sets of books, the Capitán Alatriste series, mentioned in the first episode of one of my favorite public TV series’ El Ministerio Del Tiempo. In fact, Alonso, one of the main and I think, most popular characters in that TV show, is loosely based on Ctp Alatriste! This one is called El Maestro de Esgrima, and thus far has introduced an old fashioned fencing master with impeccable manners, and moderate tastes. So far, so good!
My reading thus far:
–
Starts a bit slow, with bribes to officials and womanizing aristocrats, but I like the instructor’s dignity and way of being.”
Me encanta este narrador!
“…he loved fencing with the same passion… which was… helpful at the time of dealing with matters of Honor.”
I love this narrator!”
I love the description of the fencing master. But these times aren’t fast moving?”

Action Items in support of literacy and hope that you can take right now:
1.) Search for two different resources to translate the word “Hello” into Castellano.
2.) Share them with us in the comments, here, please.
3.) Share your thoughts on how you like each of the resources you found, perhaps as an update on your GoodReads reading,
4.) Write a blog post or tweet that uses a Castillian word, tells a good story, and makes a difference. I’m working on that through my historical fantasy #WiP, #WhoByFireIWill. Once published, donate one or more copies to your local public library, as I intend to do.
Dear Readers, any additional ideas toward learning, especially multiple #LanguageLearning as part of on-going education and empathy-building, to #EndPoverty, #EndHomelessness, #EndMoneyBail & achieve freedom for All HumanKind?
