Spanish Sundays and how Health Care relates to the media

From my favorite show, El Ministerio del Tiempo (thanks to Spanish public television), I learned that:

Castellano
I remain surprised to have learned (via my favorite currently running TV show: El Ministerio del Tiempo) that the so-called Spanish Flu of 1918 actually did not likely begin in Spain, but was called Spanish due to the fact that Spain was the first (or only) nation to have reported the illness when the outbreak began.  Other countries censored the news due to The Great War, and thus ended up helping the virus spread with the return of the soldiers after WWI.   A very sad lesson on how censorship can have deadly consequences world-wide.

So, it turns out that  both access to news and to health care are important for the safety of the entire population.  More on my continuing striving with being in this boat all togther next time, friends:

Action Items in support of literacy and hope that you can take right now:

1.) Search for two different sources to translate the word “health” into Spanish.

2.) Share them with us in the comments, here, please.

3.) Share your thoughts on Salud Para Todos and Rigoberta Menchu Tum’s movement,

4.) Write a blog post or tweet that uses a Spanish word, tells a good story, and makes a difference. I’m working on that through my historical fantasy #WiP, #WhoByFireIWill. Once published, donate one or more copies to your local public library, as I intend to do.

Dear Readers, any additional ideas toward learning, especially multiple #LanguageLearning as part of on-going education and empathy-building, to #EndPoverty, #EndHomelessness,  #EndMoneyBail & achieve freedom for All HumanKind?

    1. Well, that may be, but in this case, at least, it was the people in other countries who gave it that misnomer, because only the Spanish press was covering this pandemic. Perhaps another case of one set of media smearing another set of media types in order to label them, and the unfortunate consequence rebounding onto an innocent third party?
